HTP Books (June 2024 - June 2025)
As the Channel Marketing Intern at HTP Books (a division of HarperCollins), I supported the Channel Marketing Senior Manager and the Channel Marketing Director in the execution of library, indie bookstore, and upmarket title strategies for the American and Canadian markets.
LIBRARY AND INDIE BOOKSTORE MARKETING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinated registrations and galley mailings for national conferences and regional trade shows, including:
- Winter Institute 2025 (organized by the American Booksellers Association).
- ALA Annual 2025 (organized by the American Library Association).
- OLA 2025 (organized by the Ontario Library Association).
- CALIBA, MPIBA, and PNBA (organized by the American Booksellers Association).
Designed graphic materials and coordinated printing and shipping as needed for:
- All Indie Next voting campaigns, resulting in 9 Indie Next Picks by May 2025 (surpassing the Fiscal 2024 total).
- All LibraryReads voting campaigns.
- Announcements of stellar reviews from Library Journal, Kirkus, Booklist, and The New York Times
- Library Journal Day of Dialog Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 virtual booths.
- Winter Institute 2025, ALA Annual 2024 and 2025, and OLA 2025 materials (cover blowups, posters, postcards, bookmarks).
- Outreach for Last Twilight in Paris by Pam Jenoff, The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner, The Knowing by Tanya Talaga, and Hazel Says No by Jessica Berger Gross.
- Galley giveaway digital advertising campaigns.
Contributed to the biannual Indie Romance Speakeasy Newsletter (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 issues)
- Researched and suggested indie bookstores for the “Bookseller Spotlight!” section.
- Contacted and interviewed indie bookstore owners Becca from Meet Cute Bookshop and Kalima DeSuze from Café con Libros (see issue featuring NYC bookstore Café con Libros).
Fulfilled print and digital galley requests.
Performed research, and managed submissions and shipments for awards consideration.
UPMARKET TITLE MARKETING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributed to the marketing strategy for Hazel Says No by Jessica Berger Gross, a debut novel that became an Indie Next Pick for June 2025 with 23 nominations (the highest number for any HTP title since 2022):
- Created print postcards and digital graphics promoting OSD, blurbs, and tour events for the author’s use.
- Designed a Hazel Says No sticker sheet and coordinated special influencer mailings (e.g. here and here).
- Designed Amazon A+ and Barnes & Noble images.
- Designed digital ads.
- Coordinated mailings for giveaways and pre-pub buzz campaigns.
Supported marketing campaigns for additional titles as needed:
- Designed digital ads for titles such as Midnight in Soap Lake by Matthew Sullivan, Apartment Women by Gu Byeong-mo, The Ones We Loved by Tarisai Ngangura, and The Knowing by Tanya Talaga; created and uploaded Amazon A+ images for titles like Julia Song Is Undateable by Susan Lee, Hazel Says No by Jessica Berger Gross, and The Time Hop Coffee Shop by Phaedra Patrick; and helped with special mailings and outreach as needed.
